The Neal Gerber Eisenberg Pro Bono Committee is proud to announce that three NGE attorneys have been selected by the Chicago chapter of the Federal Bar Association and the judges of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois to receive a 2018 Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service.
Olivia Luk Bedi and Collette A. Brown, together with Jonathan Bedi and Dena Singer, have been selected for their representation of the plaintiff in a civil rights case against Cook County based on the county’s provision of inadequate medical care to the plaintiff, who tripped and hit his head when he was incarcerated. This is the second year in a row in which Collette has been selected by the N.D. Illinois for a pro bono award.
Jason A. Frye has been selected for his representation of the plaintiff in an excessive force case against the Chicago Police Department. This marks the second time in the past three years that Jason has been selected by the N.D. Illinois to receive a pro bono award.
The awards will be presented at the district court’s Nineteenth Annual Excellence in Pro Bono and Public Interest Service Award Ceremony on May 1, 2018, at 3:00pm in the James B. Parsons Memorial Courtroom, Room 2525 of the Everett McKinley Dirksen United States Courthouse, 219 S Dearborn St, Chicago.
